As my only backpack, I wanted the bag to meet a few specific criteria. It needed to be matte, have a dedicated laptop sleeve, and be compact enough to work as hand luggage for one-bag travel. At the same time, since I don’t have space for a separate hiking backpack in the van, it also had to be large enough and properly equipped for multi-day hikes.
For shorter trips or the occasional luxury night of camping in the local woods, my Arc'teryx Carrier 40 Duffle — which I normally use to store my gear — works great. But on longer hikes, when I pack lighter and walk further, I want easy access to snacks, my water bottle, and phone while on the move — something the Nanu X25 does really well.
