I'm ashamed to admit that I too was on the electric toothbrush train for decades. Got indoctrinated by my parents and then did not question it until relatively recently.
Thankfully my dentist was honest when I asked her about studies on electric vs manual when she admitted it's all about convenience and markup.
The electric toothbrush are for those who wants to get done with it, but as long as one brushes mindfully one can clean just as cleanly if not more by using a manual one.
Plus the absence of vibration is so underrated. Give it at try!
